Initial discussions with the participation of Minister Rajitha Senarathne took place at the Health Ministry auditorium on setting up of a medical faculty at Moratuwa University. The acquiring of land for this faculty has already begun. It is planned to develop Kalutara and Panadura Hospitals as teaching hospitals and incorporate into the new medical faculty. It is expected enroll 60 students from the 1st of September next year for the new faculty. Thereafter, number of student intake will be increased 150. The government will invest 8,000 million rupees on this project with Kuwait government’s assistance.
