Member of Parliament Professor Ashu Marasinghe says the government has succeeded in maintaining the country’s economy. As a result the government has managed to maintain fuel and gas prices at a low rate. He made these comments at a press conference at the Temple Trees this morning. He further said it is imperative that the Members of Parliament declare their assets and liabilities to the Parliament. These declarations of assets and liabilities will help to build responsible politicians for the country. He also said so far only ten MPs have declared their assets and liabilities. Furthermore he said that the time has come to abolish the executive presidency and create a responsible Parliament for the people.
