Chairman of the Elections Commission Mahinda Deshappriya says that the presidential election can be held between 9th of November and 9th of December. He also said that the presidential election cannot be held on a Sunday, Poya day or before and after a Poya Day. 800,000 new electors are qualified to vote for the presidential election this time in comparison to the previous presidential election. He made these comments while participating at the Subharathi programme at the SLBC this morning. He said that all media institutions should maintain neutrality during the election period and candidates should refrain from distributing goods or gifts. Legal actions will be sought if any person who is found to be contravening these regulations.
