The Anuradhapura Archaeological Museum was declared open to the public, after conservation, yesterday (12/9/2019).
It is the oldest and largest archaeological museum maintained under the Department of Archaeology.
150 thousand dollars was granted by the US Ambassadors’ Fund for Cultural Preservation, whilst the Central Cultural Fund and the Treasury have also contributed.
The Anuradhapura Museum – which is celebrating its diamond jubilee next year – has so far displayed more than 600 items of archaeological values.
