The Disaster Management Centre reports an increase in rainy situation in many districts.
Deputy Director of the Centre, Pradeep Kodippili said that more than 150 mm rainfall is expected in Western, Sabragamuwa, North Central, Central and Southern provinces.
Mr. Kodippili said, while water level of Kelani River is receding, Kaluganga’s water level at Millakanda remains high. He said that residents in Dunumale at Gampaha should remain cautious about rising water level of Attanugalu-oya, which has caused a minor flooding situation.
Due to high winds in Mahakandura, Kurunegala, several buildings and houses are damaged while three persons have sustained injuries. The DMC has dispatched a team to assist in rescue and relief efforts which are being supported by the three armed forces.
