The Paddy Marketing Board is planning to release its paddy stocks to the market in the coming week to fulfill consumer requirements until the ‘Maha’ season. Its Chairman Kasthuri Anuradhanayake says they have a stockpile of 50,000 metric tons. According to him, the paddy will be issued to the cooperative societies consisting of small and medium businesses. He adds that the prices will be lower than the current market prices.
