The Ministry of Education states, benefits of the Suraksha Insurance Scheme have been granted to 35,000 students, at a cost of 1,500 million rupees.
Steps have been taken to increase the benefits, from this year.
Thereby, the allowance paid per day, when receiving in house treatment at a government hospital – which was 1,000 rupees – has been increased to 3,000 rupees.
Under OPD treatment, benefits can be claimed for audiology equipment and spectacles. The insurance also covers, specialist consultation costs, and costs for treatment received seven days before hospital admission and fourteen days after discharge from hospital.
Students between the age of five and twenty one are able to benefit under this insurance cover.
