Presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa yesterday vowed to set-up a Presidential Task Force on National Development, to resolve problems within a day. Complaints faced by the people in their areas, can be made at these offices, and a solution would be provided within 24 hours, he said.

He said that the government will purchase rice from farmers at a standard rate of 50 rupees a kilo. He also pledged to provide free fertilizer to all farmers.

Premadasa also promised to resolve the issues faced by the people who are attacked by elephants which storm into villages, resulting in several fatalities.

He opined that this issue identified as the ‘human – elephant conflict’ could be resolved by installing electric fences and adopting other latest mechanisms.
