The Human Rights Commission issues a guideline on the conduct of public and police officers during the presidential election period.

Chairman of the Human Rights Commission Dr. Deepika Udugama says they have issued guidelines on the conduct of public and police officers during the presidential election period. She said that it has been sent to the secretaries of President, Prime Minister, Ministries and District Secretaries. The guideline has also been sent to the acting IGP. The human rights commission is monitoring the activities related to the presidential election. Dr. Ugugama said that the commission is supporting the election commission to conduct a free and fair poll. She said that complaints can be lodged over the telephone number 1996 of the human rights commission.
