Pope Francis met with Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha yesterday, on the second day of his visit to the country.
In a speech delivered after talks with the Prime Minister, the Pontiff touched on the issues of refugees and migration, which he puts at the centre of his mission.
Thailand is known as a key destination of refugees and migrants, as well as victims of human trafficking.
Later, the Pontiff met with the Supreme Leader of Thai Buddhism at a temple in central Bangkok. He expressed his eagerness to deepen dialogue between the Catholic Church and the Buddhists.
