Director of the national disaster management center Chaminda Pathiraja says that provision of relief to the people affected by the adverse weather is in progress under the instructions of the President and the Prime Minister. Five million rupees have been allocated to the district secretaries of Ampara, Batticaloa, Mannar and Nuwara Eliya from natural insurance coverage programme. Damages caused to houses have been reported from 12 districts. Arrangements have already been made to pay advances for these damages. Provisions have been made to supply cooked food and dry rations to the affected individuals under the supervision of district and divisional secretaries.
