The National Disaster Relief Services Centre says that initial steps have been taken to provide relief and pay compensations for the damages occurred due to inclement weather situation. Director of the National Disaster Relief Services Centre Chaminda Pathiraja says that the center is in high alert over the future weather conditions. 259,122 persons from 77,101 families have been affected by the bad weather. 3,860 families have been housed in 84 centers. 29 houses have been fully damaged and 1,394 houses have been partially damaged. 21 million 597,000 rupees has been released for the relief activities. In addition, 12 million 885,000 rupees has been issued for the other needs. Jaffna, Anuradhapura, Kilinochchi, Puttalam, Ampara and Batticaloa districts have been badly affected by the inclement weather experienced during the past few months.
