The Cabinet of Ministers has discussed on overcoming the development challenges pointed out in the manifesto of President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
Speaking at a media briefing held in Colombo today, Co-Cabinet Spokesperson: Minister Ramesh Pathirana said, a number of proposals in this regard have been approved.
Thereby, O/Level qualified youth will be involved in development tasks. Cabinet approval has been received, for the proposal put forward by the President in this regard, to create a “multi-purpose task force”.
A department for this purpose will be established on the 15th of next month.
100,000 O/Level qualified youth – at the lower socio-economic levels of the country – will be recruited, after being provided with a short term training, to fill the vacancies in sectors such as: transportation, agriculture, cultivations, and education.
Cabinet approval has also been received to recruit another 30,000 skilled workers.
