Heads to be appointed to State Corporations and Statutory Boards, next week

Co-Cabinet Spokesperson: Minister Ramesh Pathirana says, the appointment of Heads for State Corporations and Statutory Boards will commence next week.

The period given for suitable individuals to submit their applications, ends on the 18th of this month.
The ‘Selections Board’ will evaluate the applicants, and take steps to appoint suitable individuals.

Responding to a question raised by a journalist regarding the extradition of Former Central Bank Governor Arjun Mahendran, Minister Pathirana said, the Singaporean Attorney General’s Chambers is studying the extradition documents, and a decision will be given within the coming days.

The journalists also raised questions on the alleged abduction of a staff member at the Swiss Embassy. Responding, the Minister said, the investigations are being carried out, in an open and transparent manner. He further stated, investigations are underway into whether the charges are an attempt to bring the government to disrepute.

Questions were also raised by the media personal regarding the Millennium Challenge Corporation Agreement. Responding to the queries, Minister Dallas Alahapperuma said, as a government, the opportunity needs to be given to the country, the Parliament and the people, to discuss the matter. The President has stated that no agreement harmful to the country will be signed.
