Health Minister Pavitra Wanniarachchi says that Sri Lanka has achieved remarkable health indices in healthcare especially relevant to maternal and new-born health. Addressing the induction ceremony of the 19th president of the Perinenral Society of Sri Lanka Dr. Kaushalya Kasturiarachchi in Colombo yesterday, the Minister stated that our mothers and babies are well looked after by our health care system. But, she said, that some of important health indicators are stagnant. Therefor the authorities have to revisit some of country’s strategies if we want to bring down these indicators and to achieve the sustainable development goals in 2013. She also said that health authorities have to focus on enhancing the quality of health care service delivery.
