Fisheries Ministry will implement a programme to improve the living condition of fishing communities in 15 districts. A project to help women in these families to engage in self-employment will also be included to this programme. State Minister Sanath Nishantha Perera taking part in the ‘Subharathi’ programme aired by the SLBC this morning said that three companies in three countries have agreed to provide new technology to fisherman in Sri Lanka that will help them to locate the areas where fish is found in plenty. Discussions have been held with Aquatic Resource Development Authority to cultivate lucky fish variety in our sea area as there are good market prospects for this variety in several countries including China.
