Minister of Power says no power cuts will be imposed despite any challenging weather conditions.

Minister Mahinda Amaraweera assures that no power cut will be imposed, even on a severe drought condition.
The Minister said that hydro-power generation has fallen by 30 percentages due to prevailing dry weather condition. Power generation in oil and coal power stations has increased up to 68 per-cents. Solar power contributes only 2 per-cents to the national grid at present.
Even amidst such conditions, the Ministry of Power has taken measures to supply power without any cuts, The Minister added. He was speaking at national conference on renewable energy. This event was organized by Sri Lankan and Indian High Commissions jointly.
Speaking further Minister Mahinda Amaraweera explained the difficulties faced by government in providing a power at a lower cost to the general public.
