10,000 metric tons of big onions from India and Pakistan

The Ministry of Trade and Consumer Welfare says that a consignment of 10000 metric tons of Big Onions from India and another 750 Metric tons from Pakistan will be received by Sri Lanka in during the coming few days. A senior officer of the Ministry said that the receipt of these consignments of Big Onions is a result of a discussion held by President Gotabhaya Rajapaksha with the authorities in these countries. This Officer also said there is a decline in the price of Big Onions in the Market now after the announcement of a control price and the selling price at Sathosa is 150 rupees a kilo. He also said that the prices of rice are also coming down with the release of Maha paddy produce to the market
