Chairman of the National Elections Commission Mahinda Deshappriya says there have been five gazette notifications been issued pertaining to the General Election. He made these comment while participating in the Subharathi programme of the SLBC this morning. He further said that information contained in these gazette notifications include voting rights for the displaced, number of candidates and the symbols representing respective parties. He also mentioned that several special meetings are due to take place today and tomorrow and said that the Commission safeguards the rights of candidates who adhere to the rules of the Commission when electioneering and at the same time not failing to prosecute those who violate these rules. The Chairman of the Commission informed that a special section has been formed at the commission to manage election law violations.
