General Secretary to the United People’s Freedom Alliance: Minister Mahinda Amaraweera says, the decision regarding the Opposition Leader’s post will be discussed with the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, and the Speaker will be notified of it tomorrow. He further says, he has not received any request from any party claiming the post of Opposition Leader. A group of Parliamentarians have forwarded a letter to the Speaker requesting that MP Dinesh Gunawardena be appointed as Opposition Leader. Since all these MPs are MPs of the United People’s Freedom Alliance, the Speaker, in a letter addressed to the General Secretary of the party: Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, has queried as to what the stance of the UPFA is.
