The number of Corona virus infected persons in Sri Lanka has increased to 50.The statistics were released as of yesterday the 18th March. During a media briefing in Colombo yesterday, Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi said that 24 hospitals in the country have been prepared to treat individuals suspected of being infected with the virus.
Director General of Health Services Anil Jaasinghe said that 212 suspected patients are undergoing treatment at hospitals at present.
Joining the media conference, head of the national actions center to prevent COVID-19, Army Commander Shavendra Silva stated that the pilgrims who are in India will be subjected to quarantine when they returned to the country. About 7000 individuals have registered so far , according to the announcement asking the persons who arrived in the country from 1st to 15th of this month from overseas to register. They will be subjected to a period of self-quarantine. The army commander requested not to make public gatherings.
