Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara districts have been identified as high risk area for the spread of the Corona Virus. The Health authorities have said that gathering of people near trade stalls to purchase goods when the curfew was lifted last morning in those three districts was a major obstacle to control the Corona virus. Therefore, the government has instructed the trade organizations to take essential consumer goods to the homes for the people to purchase.
The assistance of Lak SATHOSA, Keels, Laughs, Arpico Super Centers, Araliya and Nipuna companies will be sought in this regard. A special Task Force has been set up under the patronage of Mr.Basil Rajapakse for the efficiency of programme to deliver essential consumer goods to homes. Ministry Secretaries, District Secretaries, Divisional Secretaries and other officials are members of the Task Force.
Curfew in the districts identified as high risk zones will continue until further notice. The plan to provide food and essential consumer goods, medicine and gas without any obstructions is implemented continuously from today. The vehicles that are being used to distribute essential goods including lorries, vans, three wheelers and motor cycles will be permitted to travel on roads during the time of curfew.
