A Presidential Task Force for Economic Revival and Poverty Alleviation has been appointed.

President’s Media Division said that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has appointed a Presidential Task Force for Economic Revival and Poverty Alleviation. President’s special representative Basil Rajapaksa has been appointed as the Chairman of the task force. One of the aims of this Task Force is to prepare a special economic framework inherited to the social thinking of the country. Another duty of the Task Force is direct the local industries and entrepreneurs to enhance rural economy. The Task Force is finally accountable to the President. It should also look into swift distribution of essential items and functioning essential services.
