The UK’s Communities Secretary Robert Jenrick has said he is telling councils to plan the “organized reopening” of household waste collection sites. Speaking in the House of Commons, he said he expected this to happen “in the coming weeks” and he will publish amended guidance for English councils “shortly”. It follows calls for rubbish tips to reopen in order to curb an increase in fly-tipping, after many waste facilities closed in March.
