.President of the Presidential Task Force in charge of the Economic Revival and Poverty Eradication Basil Rajapaksa says attention has been focused to cultivate and raise livestock to alleviate poverty. He stated that in order to achieve this, a programme has been implemented to identify disused government lands. Accordingly a discussion was held at the Temple Trees yesterday with the participation of the Mr. Basil Rajapaksa. He stated that improving industries such as agriculture, livestock, fisheries, and household industries are important to revive the economic as well as food sustenance. Hence, to increase and improve these areas land belonging to the government has been identified. Mr. Rajapaksa also said the aim of the programme is to improve and increase the income of household entrepreneurs and requested heads of Ministries to provide information on disuse government lands at the earliest to be used to initiate the programme.
