Secretary to the Ministry of Internal Trade, Food Security and Consumer Welfare Bhadrani Jayawardena says that there is no possibility of a rice shortage in the country. She said that stern action will be taken against the individuals who keep hiding rice stocks. Speaking to the National Radio said that the Ministry has implemented a program to supply rice to the Kalutara and Gampaha districts at present. She added that the program is underway for all other districts as well. She noted the President had earlier issued directives to officials, to convert state owned paddy into rice.
