Former President Maithripala Sirisena says that he had to place 21,000 signatures over three days on the documents to extradite former Governor of the Central Bank Arjun Mahendran from Singapore. He was speaking during a media briefing in Polonnaruwa today. He said that he strongly opposed the appointment of Singapore national Arjun Mahendran as the Governor of the Central Bank by the former Prime Minister. He further said that he consented later to the appointment of Arjun Mahendran as the Central Bank Governor since the government had been formed two week ago and he did not want to create a crisis with the former Prime Minister.
