The Expert Committee appointed by the President to study the Sri Lanka-Singapore Trade Agreement is due to submit its report within two months. The report will be tabled before the Cabinet of Ministers and in Parliament.
Speaking at a media briefing held at the Sri Lanka Freedom Party headquarters today Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe explained, a period of one year has been specified in the agreement, for amendments to be incorporated. Therefore, if the agreement contains any clause disadvantages to the country, the Expert Committee can point it out.
The Minister observed; the President, as a leader who pays attention to the citizens, appointed an Expert Committee to study the agreement, when various elements had begun spreading incorrect interpretations in society, seeking political mileage.
