Chairman of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Professor G.L. Peiris says that the alliance led by his party has presented a clear programme for the forthcoming general election. He said this during a news briefing at the party office on Nelum Mawatha in Battaramulla today. He said that their parliamentarians agreed to the 19th amendment to the constitution since former President Maithripala Sirisena said that he would introduce the 20th amendment to change the election system. Professor G.L. Pieris pointed out that a two thirds majority is needed to re-correct the faults in the 19th amendment to the constitution. He said that the Prime Minister and the President of the good governance government were in two parties and it was harmful to the country. He further said that the views of the leader of the Samagi Jana Balavegaya and its followers are contradictory. He added that although Mr. Sajith Premadasa apologized to the Cardinal Mr. Harin Fernando did not do so. He emphasized that a programme will be introduced in future to prevent illegal activities of financial companies which pressurize the people.
General Secretary of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Sagara Kariyawasam said that the meetings of the alliance led by Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna with the participation of the President and the Prime Minister will commence on the 3rd of next month.
