The First Randoli Perahera of the Kandy Esala Festival will parade the streets today. The Final Randoli Perahera is set for Saturday. Diyawadana Nilame of the Sri Dalada Maligawa: Pradeep Nilanga Dela says, all facilities have been provided for the convenience of those arriving in the city to witness the event. He appealed, for devotees to refrain from disposing plastic bottles and polythene.
All meat stalls in the vicinity of the Kandy City will be closed on Perahera Days. Fish stalls will be closed from Friday to Sunday, this week.
The Sri Lanka Railways has planned to commence special train services in view of the Esala Perahera. Accordingly, several special trains are scheduled to commute between Colombo Fort to Kandy from today.
Meanwhile, 700 additional CTB buses and 400 private buses will also be deployed for the convenience of devotees.
