Confirmed fatalities from the coronavirus in the United States have topped 150,000. Data compiled by researchers at Johns Hopkins University show that the US death toll from the virus had reached 150,034 as of yesterday. The United States recorded the latest figure two months after crossing the threshold of 100,000 on June 2. The New York Times reports, the number of coronavirus fatalities had been surging in 23 states, or nearly half of the US states, including Arizona in the west and Texas in the south. Around 1,000 deaths have been reported daily around the country for the past several days.
