People have expressed their appreciation for President Gotabaya Rajapaksa for introducing the concept of meeting them at villages and providing solutions to their problems. They pointed out that the new concept has eliminated wastage of fund, and the environmental damage caused by banners, cut outs and posters. People say it is a relief for them to find solutions to their problems and for the President to understand the real situation. They expressed these views to the President who toured the Gampaha district for the 2nd time yesterday to ensure the victory of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna candidates at the forthcoming general election. The people requested the President to prevent the destruction to Negambo lagoon and mangroves and to develop the lagoon. The people made the requests during a public rally organised by former State Minister Nimal Lansa at Vellapitiya ground in Negambo. The President also attended a public rally organised by candidate Ananda Harishchandra at Katana area. The President instructed Minister Prasanna Ranathunga to look into the difficulties face by the taxi drivers of hiring vehicles due to the closure of the airport as a result of COVID-19. The people requested the President to introduce a methodology to dispose garbage and to protect the Muturajawela wetland. They also requested the President to pay the kidney patient allowance to the patients in other provinces apart from the North Central Province. The President attended another public rally organised by Minister Prasanna Ranathunga at Udugampola area. He also attended the public rallies organised by candidate Lakshman Gunawardena in Gampaha town, candidate Priyantha Pushpakumara in Veyangoda town, candidate Upul Mahinda in Attanagalla, candidate Milan Jayathilaka in Kirindiwela and candidate Vernon Gunarathne in Dekatana.
