Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe says that the opportunity to create a world with fairness, equality and prosperity should not be neglected. The main factor in taking those forward is the Indian ocean. Addressing the inaugural session of the 3rd Indian ocean summit in Hanoi he said that all stakeholders should unite to ensure peace and free naval movement and security of the Indian ocean. The Indian ocean is the future sea. The Prime Minister pointed out that the Indian ocean zone is nurtured by civilization, culture, values and international standards.
Indian foreign minister Sushma Swaraj, Vietnam deputy minister minister Pharm Bin Min , Singapore foreign minister Vivien Balkrishnan and Nepalese deputy minister Upendra Yadav also addressed the inaugural ceremony of the summit.
The discussion between Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe and the US assistant secretary of states Allis Bells took place yesterday in Hanoi. Attention was made on regional, international economy, political and social trends at the discussion.
