The request made by the Factory Owners Association to increase the time period to pay half of the salaries for the employees has been refused. At a meeting held recently at the Labor Ministry regarding the Covid 19 laour task force, representatives of the Factory Owners Association requested Labor Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva to increase the time period until December. The minister said that almost all industries except tourist have come to normal at present. Due to that it is not fair enough to make such a request and he is unable to justify the request before the cabinet. The minister requested the association to provide actual figures of certain industries and agreed to provide a concession to the relevant fields.
