Sri Lanka has recorded the 13th death related to the Coronavirus pandemic. Director of the hospital Dr. Kapila Mallawaarachchi said that a 60 year old individual who was under treatment at Chilaw General Hospital died due to the virus a short while ago. He was a Naval personnel and arrived at the country on the 2nd of this month. He had been admitted to the Chilaw Base Hospital on the 9th of this month.
The Health Minister says people should get use to a new lifestyle to safeguard the country from the spread of COVID-19.
The publicity programme implemented by the Ministry of Health under the theme ‘for a new lifestyle’ was launched today officially at the Ministry. Expressing her views on the occasion Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi pointed out that health authorities were able to completely control the spread of the virus in the country within few months. She said that it is essential for the people to get use to a new lifestyle to maintain a situation. The Health Minister said that the publicity programme expects to educate the public on the matter. She emphasised that the people should support health authorities to protect the country from the virus. The publicity material produced by the programme will be published over all electronic and print media from today. Itukama Fund provides financial assistance to the programme. The Government Medical Officers Association and World Health Organization provide the technical support.
