The Marine Environmental Protection Authority says that the expenditure borne to douse the fire in the MT New Diamond oil tanker will be determined after finalizing the estimate of the full damage. Thereafter, steps will be taken to get the relevant payments from the responsible companies and stakeholders. Chairperson of the Authority Darshani Lahandapura said that a discussion in this regard took place yesterday at the Attorney General’s Department. At present the New Diamond Ship is positioned 55 nautical miles away from Batticaloa.
