Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva says that measures will be taken to uplift the life standards of the people living in remote areas of the Uva Province. The Minister said that that people in the Uva province faced severe injustices in the development programs and he will try to justify the situation. Addressing a meeting held at the Ministry recently, he said that if the government can remove all the interruptions in cultivating tea in small land plots, the living standards of the people can bring forward in a short period of time. Accordingly, Secretary of the Ministry Plantation Ravindra Hettiarachchi said that 243 families in 14 grama niladhari divisions in Lunugala area have been given permission to cultivate tea in 40 perch land plots.
