Chief Epidemiologist of the Epidemiology Unit of Sudath Samaraweera says that although Sri Lanka has successfully controlled Coronavirus pandemic, the risk is still prevailing. During a media briefing at the Health Promotion Bureau he emphasised the need to strictly follow health guidelines always. He said that 285,000 PCR tests have been conducted so far. More than 75,000 tests have been conducted randomly. Dr. Samaraweera pointed out that although the society is safe, there are infected persons in the country. He further said that the risk of the virus spreading in the country is prevailing due to illegal immigration and fisheries activities as India has recorded the highest number of patients in the world.
