Former IGP Pujith Jayasundara told the Presidential Commission to inquire into Easter Sunday attack that he could not perform his duties in connection with the Easter Sunday attacks. He said that situation occurred due to the prominence given on state policies by then political environment and the limits imposed on him during that time. The former IGP said that it was known that Saharan Hasheem and his followers were spreading extremism since 2017. He said that the responsibility to conduct investigations in that regard was with the State Intelligence Service and the State Intelligence Service should have informed the subject Minister. Mr. Pujith Jayasundara further said that the State Intelligence Service was not under his purview and it was under the Defence Ministry.
