All schools will be on vacation for the second term from tomorrow

The government has decided to give second term vacation to all schools from tomorrow. Meanwhile the health authorities said that nearly 400 persons associated by the infected woman from Devulapitiya area   have been identified and PCR tests are being conducted on them.

 

Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi said that the support of every one is essential to prevent the spread of the virus. She has requested the public again to follow all health guide lines implemented to control the virus

 

 

The government information Department says that Police Curfew has been imposed with immediate effect on Divulapitiya and Minuwangoda  Police areas of the Gampaha District. This is due to finding a Covid-19 patient from Divulapitiya area.  At present, close associates of her have been subjected to quarantine at their homes.

 

Army Commander Shawendra Silva said that maximum measures have been taken to prevent the virus being spread in to the society. He requested the public to follow health guide lines to support the measures in place.

 

Police curfew has been imposed on Bemmunna, Horagasmulla, Wewagedara, Devulapitiya, Hapuwalana, Henpitagedara and Ganhinmullavillages. DIG Ajith Rohana said that strict legal action will be taken against those who violate police curfew in those areas.

 

Earlier, the 39 years old woman living in Divulapitiya was diagnosed with Covid-19 and admitted to the IDH. She was admitted to Gampaha Hospital to treat for her fever and was being subjected to a PCR test at the time of discharge. She has been diagnosed as a Covid 19 patient by the result of that test. Nearly 15 staff members of Gampaha hospital and staff members of the private company she works for are already in home quarantine. Further close associates of her are being identified and tests are being carried out on how the woman became infected. Further action will be taken on the PCR investigations carried out on the associates. The health authorities are urging the public to take precautionary measures to prevent the spread of Covid 19.

 

 

Meanwhile the Minuwangoda garment factory of the Brandix group where she is employed said that strict health protective measures are increase at the factory. The company said the factory where the infected woman is employed, was immediately disinfected with the assistance of health authorities. They said that maximum measures have been taken for the protection of other employees.
