The agriculture minister pays attention to the malpractices when distributing fertilizer.

Minister Mahinda Amaraweera says that he has received reports stating that malpractices are taking place when distributing subsidised fertilizer given by the national fertilizer secretariat,. The highest number of malpractices have been reported from the Ampara district. The Jaffna district has not reported any malpractices. The minister disclosed there is no single agricultural research production assistant in the district.

Minister Amaraweera said this while attending a function organised by the welfare association of Sri Lanka fertilizer corporation. He said that all development activities in the north has been prepared for next year. He pointed out such plans have not been prepared in any district in the south. Therefore, he said that state officials in Jaffna will be able to implement their programmes as soon as they get funds from the budget.
