French officials say more than 40% of intensive care hospital beds in the Île-de-France region are now taken by Covid patients. They say 449 people are being treated in hospitals in area, which includes the capital Paris. It is France’s most populous region with more than 12 million inhabitants. The officials warn that the occupancy rate could reach 50% in about two weeks. Some hospitals have already started rescheduling planned surgeries.
