The Prime Minister says Sri Lankan security forces have made the country a secured nation

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe says that traditional security challenges as well as non traditional security challenges have to be faced at present. The non-traditional challenges are natural disasters, climate change, various human activities, violence and extremism. He said that Sri Lanka security forces have made Sri Lanka a secured country. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe said this at the Colombo defence seminar which commenced in Colombo today.

The theme of the seminar is security of the nation amid global chaos . About 800 local and foreign representatives including military heads of SAARC countries are attending the conference.. Addressing the conference, over video technology, President Maithripala Sirisena said that the security has been challenged through various sectors, unlike 50 years ago.. He pointed out that democracy, freedom of the people, territorial integrity and unitary nature are important for the continuation of the government. The conference will be held tomorrow as well.
