The army commander says that the infected persons identified from Colombo so far, are contacts of Minuwangoda cluster

Colombo Government Agent Pradeep Yasarathne says that several programmes are underway to protect people in the Colombo district from the covid-19. He said that PCR tests are being conducted on shanty dwellers in Colombo and guidance is provided for livelihood activities. PCR tests are being conducted at fort railway station and central bus stand by selecting people randomly. Head of the national covid-19 eradication programme army commander Shavendra Silva said that all identified persons from Colombo since the 3rd of October, are contacts of Minuwangoda covid cluster. He emphasized the need to follow health guide lines. Consultant doctor of community health of the ministry of health Shiromi Maaduwage said that problems have arisen since some patients are hiding initial contacts and not giving proper information. She said that preventive programmes are underway at more than 50 organizations in Colombo city. Chief medical officer of the Colombo municipal council Dr. Ruwan Wijemuni told SLBC that 300 PCR tests are conducted daily in Colombo city. 3883 PCR tests have been conducted since 5th of this month in Colombo city.

The national operations centre to prevent the covid-19 says that the total number of infected persons of the Minuwangoda covid cluster was 1901 by this morning.  1,041 of them are employees of the garment factory. Other 860 are close contacts of them. Meanwhile 108 persons are scheduled to be left for their homes today after completing the quarantine process. 9,415 are undergoing quarantine at 68 centres operated by the army. 7,675 PCR tests have been conducted yesterday.
