Chairman of the Sri Lanka Transport Board: Ramal Siriwardhana says, at the discussions held recently, it was decided to implement the proposal, upon cabinet approval, to arrange the salary structure of the Sri Lanka Transport Board in accordance with Management Circular No: 30 of 2006, and thereafter to implement Circular No: 2 of 2016, upon recommendations of entities that fall within its ambit.
The discussions headed by Minister of Transport: Nimal Siripala De Silva were attended by ministry officials, officials of the Sri Lanka Transport Board, and Trade Union representatives.
It was also decided to take into consideration, vacancies existing in the employees’ ranks, and to fill the vacancies, first by absorbing all casual employees and then contract employees. Promotions will be awarded upon suitable qualifications. A decision is to be taken at the Board Meeting of the Sri Lanka Transport Board this month, with regard to the 6000 rupees added to the basic salary from the 10,000-rupee Interim Allowance paid to employees of other state entities. It was also decided, to formulate a recruitment process for all grades of the Sri Lanka Transport Board, and implement it upon consideration given to the views of trade unions and recommendations of the Management Services Department.
