The Prime Minister requests simultaneous prayers from all faiths to invoke blessings for the country

Minister of Buddhasasana and Religious Affairs Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, has requested the Department of Muslim Religious Affairs to conduct simultaneous special prayers in Islamic places of worship together with Buddhists, Hindus and Christians from 05.00 PM to 06.00 PM today.
Issuing a statement, the Director of the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs requested all Mosques to conduct prayers seeking protection for the people all over the world and especially Sri Lanka and for the speedy recovery of the patients from COVID-19. Accordingly, the special prayers will be organised by all main Mosques in non-quarantine curfew areas.

The Raththana Suthra Pirith Chanting program conducted by Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation will be held today at the Bellanwila Rajamaha Viharaya from 6.30p.m. onwards with the participation of the Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse. The Raththana Suthra recital will be aired live on the Commercial service of the SLBC, City FM and all regional services.
Meanwhile the all island Rathana Suthra chanting program organized by the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious & Cultural Affairs was conducted today between 5p.m and 6p.m. The Pirith chanting ceremony conducted at the Sri Sambodhi Maha Viharaya in Vijerama Mawatha was joined by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse. Moreover prayers were conducted by other faiths in-conjunction with the main program to invoke blessing for the country due to the corona virus pandemic.
