Minister Bandula Gunawardhana says the budget has been presented by keep in confidence in the people and resources in the country. He mentioned this while taking part in the 2nd reading of the budget in parliament today. The minister said that the economy of the country has been destroyed when the present government came to power. He pointed out that a relief package was presented when President Gotabhaya Rajapakse assumed duties. He said that loan concessions, tax relief, bringing down interest rate to one digit and providing government jobs to 160,000 are main among them. MP Jayantha Weerasinghe said that budget can take forward the country. MP Mahinda Amarasinghe said that the Prime Minister in his capacity as the finance minister has presented a practical budget amid a global economic crisis due to the corona virus pandemic. MP Dilan Perera pointed out that steps have been taken by the budget to increase the daily wage of state workers which has been limited to discussion for five years. MP Mohomad Musammil said that the budget will assist local entrepreneurs. Minister Rohitha Abeygunawardana said the budget has been presented on behalf of the future of the people in the country. Jathika Janabalawegaya MP Harini Amarasooriya taking part in the debate said that economic policies of the country should suit life styles of the people.
