Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella says that the 95 years journey of Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation is tremendous. The Minister said that during the past 10 decades the SLBC was able to face all the challenges and it is a great achievement. Speaking at a ceremony held at Rajarata Sewaya yesterday in line with the 95th anniversary of the SLBC the minister said that his aim is to create a plan to develop the SLBC by gathering all the resources.
Addressing the occasion Chairman of the SLBC Jagath Wickremasinghe said that the SLBC always works to produce creative output for the benefit of the listeners. He added that the SLBC has always acted in accordance with the people’s needs.
Director General of the SLBC Chandrapala Liyanage said that SLBC has become an institute which provides wide array of creations, policies and ideologies. The state radio has acted from the history to create the thinking, shape and the uniqueness of the society.
Meanwhile , a series of religious activities will take place to mark the 95 years completion of the SLBC. Accordingly, a Buddhist religious ceremony will be held near Historical Matara Bo-tree this afternoon.
