The National Radio marks its 95th anniversary today.

Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation celebrates its 95th anniversary today. Issuing a message by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse says that the SLBC is rendering its self national service to the country without caught for commercial forces. The people will not forget the services rendered by the SLBC during its 95 years service. The Dhamma Sermons programme initiated by the Venerable Palene Sri Vajiragnana Nayake Thera is being conducted continuously for the welfare of Buddhist people in the country. In addition the SLBC has given priority for other religious activities such as Hindu, Islam and Catholic programme. The Prime Minister gave his well wishes to the SLBC . The statement also pointed out the SLBC is always acted to safeguard nationality and locality while facing the challenges. The official ceremony to mark the 95th anniversary is being carried out at the Kumarathunga studio of the Corporation. The Prime Minister’;s message was presented by the director general of the SLBC Chandrapala Liyanage.
Participating as the chief guest at the event,, Minister Keheliy Rambukwella said that the SLBC has reached a successful journey since 95 years. All employees who dedicated for this journey receive the honour of it. He also said the SLBC has come forward as a national radio achieving many challenges. He also stated that the SLBC has an historical value service and all should be dedicated to build it as a new way.

Secretary to the Ministry Gajath P. Wijeweera said that SLBC has reached an important juncture since the year 1920.

The chairman of the SLBC Visharada Jagath Wickremasinghe says that the SLBC is march forward giving priority for policy respect quality and maintaining balance of providing information to the general public. He also stated the SLBC is engaged in very much dedication for the welfare of the corporation and rendering irreparable service to the radio media.

Director General Chandrapala Liyanage said that more attention should be paid to provide more things to the society by the Radio. He said the platform of the Radio should owned by the people. Therefore, we should provide what the people needs. At present there is an atmosphere for every employee to carryout out their service without political affluence. He also requested the staff to give their support to build the SLBC.
