International Right To Information Day falls on the 28th of this month. The government has decided to declare the week from the 21st to the 28th as: ‘Information Week’. It is intended to educate the public on the use of the Right to Information. The Ministry of Finance and Media intends to launch a mobile service at rural level titled ‘Gamata Thorathuru Aithiya’ while various competitions will be organized Island-wide at school level to educate students on the Right to Information. Cabinet approval was received to the proposal put forward by Minister Mangala Samaraweera in this regard.
